Our Club
Elizabeth Gymnastics Club: A Legacy of Excellence Since 1961
For over six decades, Elizabeth Gymnastics Club has been a cornerstone of youth development and athletic excellence in the northern suburbs. Our story began in 1961 at St. Peter’s College, soon moving to the YMCA hall as our community of young athletes grew.
A new era began in 1977 with the introduction of our girls' gymnastics program, operating from the newly built Elizabeth Recreation Centre. The mid-1990s ushered in a wave of renewed energy with a new team of dedicated coaches and administrators.
A pivotal moment came in 1996 when we secured our permanent home: The Fremont Regional Gymnastics Centre. This move marked a transformative chapter, allowing us to build a modern, purpose-built facility and expand our program offerings with a renewed focus on community engagement.
Our Programs & Community Impact
Today, our vibrant centre offers a diverse range of programs, including Recreational Gymnastics and Competitive Gymnastics. We are proud to welcome more than 150 families from across Adelaide's northern suburbs into our inclusive and supportive community.
Our athletes' success is a testament to our quality training. We are proud that for the past five consecutive years, our gymnasts have earned selection to both the Men’s and Women’s South Australian State Teams.
This excellence was formally recognized in 2024 when we were honoured with the "Medium Club of the Year" award by the State Gymnastics Association, a prestigious accolade chosen from over 120 clubs across South Australia.
Our Not-for-Profit Foundation
As an incorporated, not-for-profit association, our club is powered by passion. Our dedicated volunteers—including coaches, committee members, and parent helpers—are the heart of our organization, with many contributing over 30 hours per week. Every dollar of revenue is reinvested directly into the club to cover facility overheads, purchase new equipment, and fund vital maintenance and upgrades.
Duty of Care at Elizabeth Gymnastics Club
Our Commitment at Elizabeth Gymnastics Club
At Elizabeth Gymnastics Club, we are deeply committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where every gymnast can grow — both as an athlete and as an individual. Our duty of care is central to everything we do and is guided by the following core principles:
-
Clear Chain of Command: We maintain structured communication and leadership to ensure smooth operations and strong support for all athletes.
-
Safe & Inclusive Environment: We strive to provide a safe, respectful, and harmonious space where all gymnasts can train free from distractions and personal conflicts.
-
Qualified, Competent Coaching: Our coaches are dedicated professionals who uphold high standards of training, tailoring instruction to suit each gymnast’s stage of development.
-
Club Growth & Community: We are committed to the long-term growth of the club, continually enhancing our programs and facilities so all members can thrive.
-
Passionate & Purpose-Driven Coaching: Our coaching team is not only skilled but deeply passionate about helping each gymnast reach their full potential — in performance and beyond.
But our vision goes far beyond just building great athletes.
We believe in developing confident, resilient young people. Our training approach weaves in essential life skills such as determination, focus, courage, teamwork, self-belief, and self-esteem. We take pride in knowing that, long after they’ve retired from the sport, our gymnasts carry these traits into all areas of life.
At Elizabeth Gymnastics Club, every athlete becomes part of a supportive and growing family. We encourage our older gymnasts to step into leadership roles — as coaches, judges, and mentors — fostering a culture of giving back and community spirit.
Together, we are strong. Together, we are a team.
